Are you Immune to Disarm?

*As of Patch 2.3 Items grant reduction in the duration of the Disarm effect rather than removing it all together. This has resulted in instances where it is useful for a tank to have it being nerfed to the point where a tank should not worry about having a weapon with Disarm duration reduction.*

There are a number of mobs in the game that will disarm you leaving you with a limited number of threat generating abilities at your disposal and ultimately in a sketchy situation. So obviously, its best to just avoid being disarmed altogether.

There are 2 meaningful ways to become immune to disarm. (and 1 not so meaningful way)

1. Gloves

At this point in time, there is really only one pair of gloves that I think anyone can justify using and that’s [item]Steelgrip Gauntlets[/item]. Of course, these are PvP gloves, but the high stamina makes them still pretty decent for tanking as well and for those of you too lazy to learn the actual mobs that disarm you… well you can just wear these all the time.

2. Weapon Chain - Immune to Disarm

The weapon chain (made by blacksmiths for weapons and acts like an enchant) is definitely my preferred route as it allows you to use your standard tanking gear as well as allowing you to switch it on during combat should someone pull before you are ready. (that includes you forgetting to put it on as you pull ;) ) That being said, by going this route you either have to give up Mongoose on your primary weapon or get a second tanking weapon. I recommend using a 2nd weapon since situations where you need disarm immunity while necessary are infrequent.

3. Don’t use a weapon

Ya, this is the not so meaningful way… don’t do it. (although if you only have one tank in Karazhan…)

I’m not immune, but there’s no point since those mobs in Karazhan have been majorly nerfed with the recent patch. I haven’t come across any mobs in SSC that disarm yet, but if I do, I’ll find another weapon to smack that weapon chain on. :D

    Death Grips from Stratholme

    Ads:
    -Easy to get
-Cheap, although silly wipes in strat can build up some repair costs - try not do it drunk
-They don’t look too out of place, nobody will notice that you are wearing lowbie gloves

    Disads:
-Wearing these in place of your tier or maiden gloves will reduce stats quite a bit
-They don’t look too out of place, you will forgot they are on and tank prince and other bosses wearing them and feel silly afterwards

fist weapons require points in the unarmed skill.

how do you disarm someone who is unarmed?

Sure. But Death Grips are pre-TBC item. Fist weapons are correctly requiring unarmed skills -> a fist weapon with +sta and +defense rating is the way!

Not really worth carrying something that makes you immune to disarm. Other then those 8 mobs in kara, i dont know any other mobs that disarm in raid instances.

And even for those 8 mobs, jsut shield slam and shield bash (yes shield bash is good agro and it dosent matter if you interrupt or not) since they where nerf. Previously, their was a massive agro drop when disarmed.

Well, all those items have now been changed to be 50% reduction of the time being disarmed instead of complete immunity.
