There’s this disease that runs rampant in World of Warcraft. Everyone is terribly afraid of wasting anything and heaven forbid we invest in something when their is even a teenie, tiny possibility of an upgrade for it one day.
Are you wearing [item]Shoulderguards of the Bold[/item]?
Would you like to be wearing [item]Mantle of Abrahmis[/item]?
Well you can. The difference between the above two items is basically a bit of defense and 18 Stamina. You can get that big of an upgrade by simply putting the best shield enchant on your shield. You can also do it by turning those SIX 9 Stamina Jewels you have scattered amongst your gear into 12 Stamina jewels.
What do [item]Barbed Choker of Discipline[/item], [item]Crimson Girdle of the Indomitable[/item], [item]Vambraces of Courage[/item], and [item]Wrynn Dynasty Greaves[/item] all have in common?
I’ve killed the bosses that drop them 20 times (OVER 4 MONTHS) and not a single one of those has dropped.
Do yourself a huge favor, upgrade.

I have to agree. I don’t know HOW MANY times I have told friends the same things. I wanted to wait for King’s Defender to drop, and if I had, I’d still be stuck with that silly quest weapon as I’ve yet to see King’s Defender drop. I just put enchants and expensive gems in all my gear, even the bad gear, and I haven’t regretted it yet.

This trend troubles me almost as much as those individuals who wish to have a raid handed to them on a silver platter. Epics are nice to have, but not a must to succeed. In regards to Karahzan loots, you can find equivalent and in some cases better blue items from Heroics. And coming from a long time raider, you cannot expect something from every run for yourself, but know that each successful boss kill nets the guild as a whole in some fashion. That’s my two sense and look forward to further discussions.

Yeah, if you’re an OT and your MT has worked their butt off outside of the raids grinding faction and heroics for the best gear possible pre-Kara, don’t WAIT for your gear to drop in Kara so you can take it from the MT because you, “need it more.”
If your MT has The Sun Eater and you’re still sporting that Shadowmoon quest axe, do yourself, your MT, and your guild a favor and try to get The Sun Eater as well. When that King’s Defender drops and everyone tries to guilt your harder working MT into passing it to you…the MT isn’t going to be happy!

sucks when all the bosses drop is the same 2 healing epics ever week, and all the guild nets is a few boid crystals. sucks when ou go to kara for 5 weeks and see 0 tanking items even drop (including t4)

I wish the people in my current and former guild could do just that max out there gear by doing there quests heroics or even normal runs to get even the dungeon sets and then Gem em up and enchant em to.
Just to be able to see that they are doing something with there playing time not just w8ing on the next Kara run to get an epic.
Unfortunately most people don’t know how good those blue items actually are to there class even at raid level they just want a raid handed to em since they think its so cool wearing a epic.

I am the main tank and guild master of a new Karazhan raiding guild. Our first raid was last Saturday and thanks to everyone listening to me and following exact orders, we managed to kill Attumen, Moroes, Maiden and then Oz. After reading this, what you’re saying has struck me. I have worked my arse off getting the right enchants and gems to boost my character to the best it can be with the current gear, where as the two other tanks in the guild are still using a few totally not needed green defense rating gems. They’re cool guys but sometimes it bothers me that they do not maximize their gear. Regardless of their gear, our progression has been fantastic…. on our second raid, two days after our first we did Curator first attempt and Chess event - with no wipes. Last night we didn’t have the best group but managed to get Aran down to 46% on only our second try. After that, one of our healers who had already stayed 30 minutes longer than she could just had to go. Regardless of the other tanks, I have been really lucky with loot in raids. Last Sunday or so, I managed to get into a guild run (before I created the guild I run now) since they were a tank short, I managed to net Maiden’s necklace, Opera’s tanking helmet and Curator’s legs, I also got the reputation for epic Violet Eye ring. I also managed to net myself Battlescar boots from Curator. So all my effort has paid off. I’m now just about fully epic.
