Hit Rating: Important?
*As of Patch 2.3, Hit Rating now affects Taunt and Challenging Shout*
Grimgorr asks - “How important is hit rating in Kara (what is the “target” hit rating for a tank)?”
Good Question. Hit Rating is definitely a great stat for a tank. ~16 Hit Rating translates into 1% to hit. So you’ll never need more than 80 Hit Rating. (5% to hit)
Hit or Miss
That being said, I’ve always approached Hit Rating as something that I don’t strive for, but instead is more of a bonus. In an ideal world, I’d change every point of Block Rating on tanking gear to Hit Rating instead.
So how much did I use?
During my progression through Karazhan, I had only 11 Hit Rating (under 1% to hit) acquired from my [item]Junior Technician 3rd Grade Bracers[/item]. At the moment, I use none.
So basically, Hit Rating helps, but its definitely not required.

Definitely not required, yes, but if you’re in charge of picking up Attumen, tanking Romulo or Roar/Tinhead and you get an unlucky chain of misses when they spawn and aggro…

Unless you are at risk of getting 2-3 shot, the fight is not about maxing tank gear. You want to do as much aggro as possible so your DPS can unload and make the fight shorter and the whole kill to go smoother.
+hit is the top tank aggro stat. 5% is all you need for lvl 70 mobs. Skull mobs are lvl 73 and I’ve read either 5.6% (.2% per level keeping with +5 defense at .04 miss rate per defense) but according to http://www.wowwiki.com/Miss a skull mob would get .2% per point since they are over 10 skill points ahead making the miss rate 8%.

If ur under 14750 hp, get more hp. If ur passed 15000, u can start focus on aggro.(hit rating)
