Badges of Justice: What order to get the Items?

Initially when the expansion had just came out the items bought through [item]Badge of Justice[/item] (acquired in Heroic level instances) really weren’t anything to bring home and tell mom about, but with the release of patch 2.1 it’s a completely different story.

If I had to do it again, this is the order I’d get the items in.

1. The Trinket

  • [item]Gnomeregan Auto-Blocker 600[/item]

Use the following simple macro and watch as your Shield Slams hit for new heights making initial aggro on bosses a breeze.

/use Gnomeregan Auto-Blocker 600
/cast Shield Slam

2. The Ring

  • [item]Ring of Unyielding Force[/item]

Better than any Ring you’ll find pre-Karazhan and pretty much identical to Shade’s [item]Shermanar Great-Ring[/item]. It couples perfectly with [item]Violet Signet of the Great Protector[/item].

3. The Neckpiece

  • [item]Necklace of the Juggernaut[/item]

The best neckpiece you can wear while you wait for Maiden to give you hers.

4. The Shield

  • [item]Azure-Shield of Coldarra[/item]

A slight upgrade over [item]Crest of the Sha'tar[/item], its worth getting sooner if your Sha’tar rep is low. Eventually though you’ll replace it with Nightbane’s [item]Shield of Impenetrable Darkness[/item] and more importantly Gruul’s [item]Aldori Legacy Defender[/item]

5. The Cape

  • [item]Farstrider Defender's Cloak[/item]

Don’t make its 5th position fool you, you aren’t going to find a cape with as much Block Value as this one. Perfect for grinding, tanking trash mobs and maximizing your threat output.

Wouldnt it be in yoru best interest to get the items in the order of least badges required first? Then you get use of the items sooner?

What about the helm? That was the one I was aiming for for my first purchase. I am currently wearing the Felsteel Helm.

While it makes sense to get items in the order of least badges first (and your claim maybe moves the cape up a spot), the reality is that the trinket is simply that much better than everything else.

In regards to the helm, I honestly will never get it. True for you [item]Faceguard of Determination[/item] is an extra 9 stamina and 24 dodge rating above your [item]Felsteel Helm[/item], but [item]Helm of the Stalwart Defender[/item] is 20 stamina above your helm with more armor to boot (not to mention resilience which allows you a little flexibility with your gear) and the mats are significantly easier to farm than 50 badges are to acquire.

I got the shield first, and if I could do it over again, I’d save my badges for the trinket… I agree that it’s really THAT good.

Agree on the Faceguard = Not worth the badges. Stalwart Helm with 3 solid stars of elune = 830 hp and more armor. You can get enough +dodge from other items.

Does the Auto Blocker still top the list with the new 2.3 additions?

I’ll be putting out an updated version soon, but the long and short of it. Nope, the Auto-Blocker isn’t still at the top.

One thing to point out, the Iron Scale Cloak (at work, can’t look up link) has 39 sbv, something like 19 block rating and 26 stamina. The armor is less (I believe 78), but I think this could be the best block cloak to use.

I’m mistaken, ironscale war cloak only has 29 sbv… guess my memory isn’t as good as I thought it was
