Don’t Steal the Show
Okay, if your cat just peed on you, fine you can go afk, but anything else and you are stuck there.
Whether you’ve already done the instance a million times or read up some brilliant strategy from wowwiki, bosskillers, or god help you, this site…
They don’t care. Even if your way is amazing, it’s still not the way that the other 24 people have learned to do it. So start listening partner, its learning time
You should have enough consumables in stock to easily handle a full repair bill worth of wipes.
Make sure you have the necessary tanking sets (read: Resistance) for the instance you are in. If you forgot it, say so. Better to tell the raid before they’ve pulled rather than have them notice after you’re dead.
Don’t be afraid to ask your questions over Vent even if they say otherwise. The fact is the tank’s role is almost always very important to the success of the raid so they won’t hold it against you. That being said…
Ask questions that matter to your job. You do not need to understand the entire fight nor should you try to.
It’s very possible that any number of crazy stories or funny inside jokes are flying left and right during less stressful times of the raid, but try to stay out of it. I’m not saying don’t enjoy yourself, but do not try to steal the show.
a. Guys: Don’t hit on their women
The Girls might enjoy it, but the men folk of the guild can easily get super jealous and thrown off their game. Not to mention, you aren’t going to be able to play at your best either.
b. Girls: Don’t hit on anyone
You’ll likely throw every guy in the raid off his game immediately. In fact, the first time you speak you are already more than likely going to do that so don’t push it too far. Not to mention, you should already know that women can be just as jealous as men.

Ya know, you’ve only forbidden me from hitting on women…
Care to rethink that?

Since this is a tanking discussion forum let me state this:
Healers are encouraged to hit on other healers at any time during ventrilo interaction. Especially if the source is Hammardin =P
But yeah, sound advice … I really should rethink some of my ventrilo activity during raids.
