i have a 70 lock that solo aoes illhoof. you don't need to worry about taking agro because if he is doing his job imps should be down with 2 hits, in under 5secs. what you really want to do is have the off tank grab the big imp and take off his weapons and tank the him in the hall. he has a debuff that ups the regular imps dmg to 500 instead of the 100 or so you usually get hit for. if hes gone illhoof is cake as long as you down the chains. oh and my old guild has an awesome macro for it, just incase it has not been posted.
/Cleartarget
/Target Demon Chains
/stopmacro [nodead,harm]
/target Terestian illhoof

if you want to make the lock/aoe persons job easier have everyone stand in the circle of candles.

Shield Slam does not dispel Demon Chain. It does however hit hard so its worth throwing one on the Demon Chain to help kill it.

Thanks in advance!

@ Hammardin:

I'll remember the mage tank thing, thats a pretty good idea, lol. Usually we just have a lock seed of corruption all the little guys. I tank Kilreck in dps gear and whirlwind and cleave alot to help burn down the lil ones. I pretty much solo DPS Kilreck in reality, and thats good because it gives me Victory Rush and from there its just GG. If all the small imps are seeded I can just chain Victory Rush damn near all of them to death. So the second Kilreck drops I clear the table and then we focus on Illhoof or the chains if they pop up. The lock of the group and I are usually just about tied in damage and dps that fight, its fun :P. Victory Rush is by far one of the best abilities Blizz has ever given warriors for mass murder fights.

My kara team has discovered that Illhoof is a fight that can be executed "creatively". For awhile we had a paladin tank all the imps until they were at max spawn, and dps was always on Illhoof unless Chains/Kilreck is up. Since our paladin tank is taking a break atm, we've been using a mage in fire resist to "tank" the imps using arcane explosion. Typically a dps warrior picks up Kilreck, or the other dps just pwn his face off without needing a tank.

DPS Tankage FTW! I usually DPS/OT for Karazhan, and on Illhoof Whirlwind and Imp Cleave is great for getting those guys off your casters. I like to focus on the main imp and then AoE him and anyone near him down via WW and Cleave, takes some focus off of the casters and the MT.
