I went engineering and blacksmithing. I was blacksmithing and mining, but I have an alt that can do the mining for me, freeing me up to do the engineering. I did it for the goggles, mostly, and the gun was a nice bonus.

I went blacksmithing for the swords and the bop schematics from endgame instances. I'm happily sporting a Blazefury now, as well as the Red Havoc Boots (schem dropped from trash in TK), GBKD, and Tankatronic Goggles. It was entirely worth it to me. I highly recommend going both if you can manage it. When we downed lurker the first time, it allowed me to pass the mallet on to our warrior OT... because I knew I was just one vortex away from my "t3" BS sword.

and i chose engineering on my warrior soley on the fact i'm an engineer in real life. I now get goods that help me with tanking which are the tankatronic goggles and the gyro balanced khorium destroyer. The luck! lol

Engineering 1-350 AND mats for the tankatronic costed me a combined 1-1.2K gold, which is not that much. After that I farmed the khorium scope schema and leveled my skill to 375 almost free (buying mats and selling the scope is usually a zero sum transaction :)).

Block Value is awesome. I have the 2 piece T5 bonus and I'm almost certain it adds to your block value on shield slams not just shield blocks. When you click shield block you get a buff (I think it's called Reinforced Shield) that says 100 block value. You keep the buff until one hit is blocked, but if you shield block and shield slam very quickly I notice larger shield slam dmg.
I still use my Styleen's on bosses we have on farm. I switch it out for moroes trinket on new content though so I can have another holy $#!@ button:)

I consider the tier4 helm better than the tier5 helm. I prefer shield block to most other forms of mitigation. I have a healthy 700+ base block going right now :)

The engineering helm is worlds above the T4 Helm. I would put it slightly above T5 as well.

If you go Goblin, which I would recommend, you also get the goblin rocket launcher which is 45 stam I believe but also provides a nice /use of a rocket that does around 500 dmg and stuns a target. It's great for pulling, although it's a shorter range than Decapitator. The Goblin bombs are also nice especially if you're AOE tanking something.

Gnomish has more useful transporters (Toshley's/Gadget vs. Everlook/Netherstorm) and has a trinket that is 45 stam and the /use is to turn a mob or player into a chicken (more funny than effective).

As of now it appears engineers are getting a crafted Epic and non-epic flying mount and a new repair bot schematic in 2.3. The new repair bot is supposed to sell reagents and limited other items like health potions.

WTB Rep based patterns and instance drops for engineering! Every crafting profession gets a couple drops in SSC/TK and BT/Hyjal, except engineering.

If you have tier4 helm I'm not sure I would level engineering from scratch just for this helmet. The gun can be used without engineering. Maybe wait until they announce all the other cool engineering stuff they have planned in 2.3?

Another good note about Engineering is the ability to make the Gyro-balance Khorium Destroyer yourself. Probably wont save a lot in the end, but the costs on the Primal Nether is more than enough, especially once you take the tanking goggles into account.
