I was blacksmithing and mining, but I have an alt that can do the mining for me, freeing me up to do the engineering. I did it for the goggles, mostly, and the gun was a nice bonus. I went blacksmithing for the swords and the bop schematics from endgame instances. I'm happily sporting a Blazefury now, as well as the Red Havoc Boots (schem dropped from trash in TK), GBKD, and Tankatronic Goggles. It was entirely worth it to me. I highly recommend going both if you can manage it. When we downed lurker the first time, it allowed me to pass the mallet on to our warrior OT... because I knew I was just one vortex away from my "t3" BS sword. I went engineering and blacksmithing. After that I farmed the khorium scope schema and leveled my skill to 375 almost free (buying mats and selling the scope is usually a zero sum transaction :)). I have the 2 piece T5 bonus and I'm almost certain it adds to your block value on shield slams not just shield blocks. When you click shield block you get a buff (I think it's called Reinforced Shield) that says 100 block value. You keep the buff until one hit is blocked, but if you shield block and shield slam very quickly I notice larger shield slam dmg. I still use my Styleen's on bosses we have on farm. I switch it out for moroes trinket on new content though so I can have another holy $#!@ button:) Block Value is awesome. The gun can be used without engineering. Maybe wait until they announce all the other cool engineering stuff they have planned in 2.3? Probably wont save a lot in the end, but the costs on the Primal Nether is more than enough, especially once you take the tanking goggles into account.
