This is exactly the opposite of how our guild is. our MT is recognized as a druid since i guess it is easier to gear those guys up (shot in the dark here about being easier to gear). Unfortunately that druid is the raid leader most of the time so unless we split or make a KaraB with the druid not in it, there is unfortunately, no way any warrior is going to tank kara for our guild...

Don't forget Warriors have intervene. When used as intended, it can save the life of a healer and not just catch you up to the rest of the group after the pull. :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but neither paladins or druids have things like disarm, aoe fear, shield wall, last stand, spell reflect, hell do they even have a spell interrupt? Not to mention Demo shout, Thunder Clap, and Sunders as quite significant debuffs.

Druids and Paladins are very good at what they do, but you gotta admit, they don't do much compared to the versatility of warriors.

They've done some number crunching on who takes the least damage...it's still warriors over all the other classes...this is of course assuming everything is done right...shield block is always up, decent base avoidance and use of all debuffs. If I can find where I read that I'll post a link. Also, I think a warrior's cooldowns alone make them the best tanking class. Regardless of what you may be tanking...even in the most dire of situations, a good warrior can stay alive much longer than any other class. I've most played a warrior tank most extensively, but I've also had some experience tanking as a druid and a pally. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, but overall I think the warrior the most universally successful. I'd have to say, hands down, being a good warrior tank is by far the most difficult option, but is also the best. :)

That confidence came and went with TBC... Paladins are seen as the ultimate 5 man tank and Feral druids are right up there with tanking in raids.

@Annalyze:
I agree good players can do it regardless of class, but the reason Warriors are lucky is that notoriously people will immediately believe in us over a Druid or a Paladin. That confidence and respect is a massive advantage for us and something we should appreciate.

Hunter I truly believe its about skill. 2 players of equal skill, 1 playing a prot war, 1 playing a prot pal. They will both do the job equally well. Obviously you can complicate matters by looking at types of tanking (single, ae, fear boss) but simply put: I've found that if your a good player in general, it really dosnt matter what class your playing.

This is particularly interesting to me since most of the people in my non-raiding guild seem to think that warriors are the *weakest* tanking class. The highest level characters in the guild are saying that Paladins hold agro better and Druids can take a bigger beating. Having not tanked high-level instances, I can't comment intelligently on this, but as I'm leveling a warrior to be a tank, I'd like to be able to justify my existence. :)

Does anyone have any resources that objectively compare the various tanking classes? The only resource I've found is http://www.wowwiki.com/Tank.

Thankfully imo, peoples perceptions are starting to slide in favour of ability regardless of class. It's only a drama to mistakenly assume you are the only class that can tank because that's the way it always was.

Likely it's more damaging to Warriors when people asking you to tank for them are let down if you don't know what you're doing.
