What does Block Value do?

Increases how much damage you absorb with a shield and how much damage you do with Shield Slam.

Do any talents affect Block Value?

Yes. Shield Mastery will increase your Block Value by 30%.

When is Block Value applied?

After Armor and Defensive Stance are taken into account. (this makes it a lot better)

How much does 1 Block Value increase my Shield Slam damage?

1 Block Value = 1 Shield Slam damage.
(note: One-handed Specialization will also affect Shield Slam)

How much does 1 Block Value absorb when I block?

1 damage.

How do I figure out how much Block Value I have?

Manually:
Go up to a mob, apply shield block and let it hit you. The amount of damage absorbed is your Block Value.

Addon:
BlockValueTooltip. Hover over your Block Rating in your character screen and it now shows your Block Value as well

Math:
Block Value + (Strength / 20) - 1

Math with Shield Mastery:
(Block Value * 1.3) + (Strength / 20) - 1
