Killing Kritters

Something I occasionally will bark at my team for doing is killing critters. (spelt with a K for kuteness in the title) I don’t do it too much because they don’t see the value of them and they’ll simply kill them to tease me if I make too big of deal out of it. (I’m certain I’ll be having them smoked left and right around me for a while once they get wind of this post…)
Wait… So, you mean the Level 1 things?
Yup. That’s exactly what I’m talking about. But don’t think of them as critters anymore. Think of them as little rage potions. They’ll give you that little extra boost between pulls and keep you in combat just long enough to not take some rage decay.
Now you may think… uh.. that’s at tip? Try it. Every little bit helps ![]()

However wonderful this is, think of your poor healers that stay in combat when your LEVEL 1 Kritter resists your hit (This does happen) and runs off to parts unknown….

One really good specific example is the end of the first corridor in SH. That really annoying 7-pull that will pretty much determine whether your group can handle the rest of the instance or not. There are 6 Fire Beetles sitting there just waiting to get smacked
nice little boost for an annoying pull.
Learnt that from a feral druid who yelled at me when I multi-shotted them… sowwy…

I’ve been pwning kritters to both stay in combat AND develop a little rage since the beginning…. also, it makes me feel strong

They’re conveniently placed at many strategic locations in instances. I noticed them first in BM where there were two at every portal, and they would respawn.

I also use them when running back after a wipe (not due to tanking issues, of course) to try to beat mages back. I charge kritters and intervene to the blinky-pants mage, then charge another kritter, etc.
My #1 beef with TK instances is the lack of kritters.

I always kill them to get my commanding shout up before combat.
It helps.

Another great related tip is when you are guarding the flag at stables or farm in AB there will be a constant respawn on the local critters. Keep killing them and you’ll be ready to take on anyone with a full rage bar when the time comes.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but in killing them, you should charge the little buggers!

Equip a 2-hander for even more rage

If you charge a critter but don’t kill them you are stuck in combat. Then all you need to do is just keep popping enrage, and BAM easy rage.
This tip is more of a sillly strategy than anything, since most mobs will top your rage off really fast (and if not, /sit =) )
