TankSpot.com turns 1 year old!

August 3rd, 2008

While I’m not one to clutter the pages of this site with news, I’m also not one to ignore credit where credit is due. TankSpot.com evolved from the guild site ran by the most recognized authority in Warrior tanking, Ciderhelm. A year since it’s creation has seen the site become more than just a curiosity to aspiring tanks, but instead The Tanking Community.

In relation to TankingTips.com, TankSpot.com is largely responsible for the quick and steady growth of this blog. If it weren’t for TankSpot.com, many of you probably would have never even heard of nor stumbled upon this site.

How’s my Threat? [Calculator]

July 26th, 2008

http://rehfeld.us/wow/wws-tps/

This Threat Calculator has been making rounds for some time and is definitely worth highlighting for curiosity sake more than anything else. It requires you to copy -> paste in your Wow Web Stats (WWS) report directly into it then just click Submit Query. The following is an example of one such report that can be used in the threat calculator, you’ll notice that in order for the threat calculator to work you’ll need to pick a specific boss as well as the specific tank you wish to see the threat of.

Tankatronic Goggles vs Battleworn Tuskguard

July 21st, 2008

In this game, there exists numerous items at the same item level. For that reason, two items are often very similar. The term given to a comparison between two such items is a “coin toss”.

Heads or Tails

Battleworn Tuskguard and Tankatronic Goggles are often considered an example of a coin toss which is interesting because the Goggle’s item level is 127 while the Tuskguard’s item level is 133. This should tells us right now, that perhaps this idea is false.

Polls: What’s your Ideal 5 man?

July 17th, 2008

You’re making your way to some new bleeding edge 5 man content….

Wait… bleeding edge?

Now first and foremost, I understand for a lot of you, it’s been a while since you did 5 man content you didn’t outgear. For this exercise though, why not take a trip down memory lane. What was your ideal 5 man group when you were just learning stuff covered in blue and green gear? Every instance has it’s advantageous setups, but you and I both know that every one of us tanks has a slight preference one way or the other.
